I WILL abide by all laws, ordinances or regulations that may govern my search, or the area I will be in.
I WILL respect private property and not trespass or do any metal detecting without the owner’s permission.
I WILL not destroy property, buildings, or what is left of ghost towns and deserted locations.
I WILL fill in all my excavations and holes no matter how small or remote the location.
I WILL never dig in a way that will damage, be damaging to, or kill any vegetations.
I WILL appreciate and protect our heritage of natural resources, wildlife, and private property.
I WILL not litter, always pack out what I pack in and remove any trash that I find or have dug in my search.
I WILL leave all gates and other accesses to land as found.
I WILL not tamper with signs, structural facilities, or equipment.
I WILL conduct myself with thoughtfulness, courtesy, and consideration toward others always as a representative and member in good standing of Detector’s Unlimited.
I WILL be a good ambassador to the hobby of metal detecting, including helping beginners, not disturbing other detectorists or non-detectorist.
I WILL not remove, but document and report the discovery of items of significant historical value to a local historian or museum in accordance with the latest legislation.
